Ingredients for Apple Bread Recipe
1/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
2 eggs, beaten
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 cups peeled, grated apples
1 Tablespoon lemon peel
1 cup walnuts, chopped
Apple Bread Recipe Directions
Preheat oven to 350° F.
In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar until fluffy.
Beat in eggs.
In a separate bowl, mix together dry ingredients.
Blend dry ingredients into the shortening and sugar mixture.
Gradually add apples and lemon peel.
Mix in chopped walnuts.
Grease a bread loaf pan.
Pour batter into the pan.
Bake in the oven for 60 minutes.
Remove the apple bread from the oven and cool for 10 minutes before turning onto a cooling rack.
