In the fall, if we are not cooking with pumpkins, then we must be cooking with apples. This is an old recipe, and a family favorite. is a fall family favorite.
Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups
all purpose flour
1 teaspoon
baking powder
1/2 teaspoon
salt
1 teaspoon
sugar
1/2 cup
butter
1
egg yolk
2 Tablespoons
milk
3/4 quart
apples, peeled, cored and cut into eighths
Topping:
2 Tablespoons
butter
3/4 cup
sugar
1 1/2 tablespoons
flour
1 teaspoon
sugar
1/4 teaspoon
cinnamon
Apple Kuchen Recipe Directions:
Sift together flour, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Cream butter.
Add dry ingredients, mixing thoroughly.
Add in egg yolk, and milk, mixing well.
Press dough into the bottom of a greased baking pan.
Press apple slices into the dough.
Make topping: mix all topping ingredients together, until coarse and crumbly.
Sprinkle topping onto the apples.
Bake in pre-heated oven at 375 degrees for 50 minutes.
