Fried Pumpkin Flower Description

Pumpkins plants produce far more flowers, especially male flowers, than will produce pumpkins. This tasty summer treat is made without the saltines used in other fried pumpkin flower recipes.

Ingredients:

24pumpkin blossoms
1/2 cupmilk
2eggs
1/2 cupwhole wheat flour (or corn meal)
3-4 tablespoonslight cooking olive oil
dashsalt
as desiredfresh cracked black pepper to taste

Fried Pumpkin Flower Recipe Directions:

  1. Cut pumpkin blossoms off where the pumpkin starts on.
  2. Take the center out and wash well.
  3. Make a batter of the milk, eggs, salt and pepper.
  4. Dip the blossoms in the batter.
  5. Dip blossoms in the wheat flour (or cornmeal).
  6. Fry until light brown.
  7. Serve hot.
